Sucks to see him go. I honestly thought Lewis would have been the guy selected. But I'm glad we get to keep the character that Lewis is. He means alot to this team and I appreciate him. I never thought for a second Dowd was an option. Can't wait until tomorrow to see all the other trades that are involved into the Vegas selections.

Not sure why everyone is sad to see him go. He sucked. Plain and simple. He was slow and made so many turnovers it made our goalie's head spin.

If you understand how the game is actually played. You could understand and respect what he does bring to a team. It isn't about weather he was a top talent or not. But he had a nasty style to him. And when healthy like to start this past season he was on fire. The talent is there. Its getting that out. Like the Kings had to do with Muzzin and continue to have to do with him.

I understand the game perfectly. But he wasn't a character guy. He wasn't a voice in the room. He played well early in the season but slouched the rest of the way. It didn't work out. Derek Forbort eventually beat him out. I still think trading Hudson Fasching for him was mistake. More sad to see Matt Greene go then anything. His presence in the locker room will be missed more than anything.

Greene will still be around for sure. No way he goes without a job within somehow. But McNabb was the only Dman with an edge. With that said I'm glad we still have Lewis. But sad to McNabb go. Really would have rather'd Dowd be gone. But McNabb gives us more cap. So we now just move on.

He was my favored to go out of the realistic options.
He can still develop into a good defenseman I think, but he had been passed by Gravel and LaDue, I prefer Gravel in. With Kings management preferring Forbort (not sure I agree, but maybe a byproduct of all the resources that have been dumped into him) Mcnabb was a replaceable 6/7 d. Hope it works out for him, happy to keep Lewis and Dowd.

Sad to see Greene go??? being a "guy in the room" cant be all you bring to a roster... and definitely not for that cost.

Glad Dowder stays and hopefully he gets more TOI next year. Maybe even a lock on a 2nd PP unit if we load up the 1st.

Thanks Vegas! Would you like a side of Gaborik to go with your McNabb combo? I'm happy it wasn't Lewis or Dowd.

I'd argue that he did develop into a top-4 defenseman. He was 4th on the D in TOI in 2014-15, 2nd in Corsi For %, 2nd in Chances Against/60 and 3rd in +/- and Doughty won a Norris paired with him. I wonder what more he needed to do. At the start of 2016-17, he averaged 21 minutes of ice-time (which is top-4, especially since he was rarely used on the PP) and led the D in CF%, CA% and +/- before he got injured and, when he got back, his TOI was drastically reduced because Forbort had taken his place in his absence and he was forced onto the 3rd pairing. That was through no fault of his own.

LA gave up a top 4 defenseman and, as I said a few days ago, their only defensive defenseman. As I also said, having only one year left before he's a UFA made it hard to justify protecting him, but I still find it disappointing how Blake didn't even seem to try and most fans don't seem to mind losing him or are even happy about it. It's not a backbreaking loss (really, no one after Doughty would be), but it's a loss that I think will be felt. After Doughty, the team is going into next season with two defensemen who are pretty crummy at defense (especially together) and three defensemen who have played only a full season or less. That does not bode well.

A top 4 D??? Are you kidding Sprey? At least I never have to hear you gush over his crappy play ever again. Vegas can enjoy his turnovers in front of their goalies, poor gaps, getting beat from the dots to the net, predictable hip check at his blue line, indecision in general, slow feet and poopty passes. The eyeball test doesn't lie and don't forget about those offensive zone start stats
